The first COVID-19 self-test kit in India is the COVID-19 Rapid AntigenSelf Test Kit (RAT). It is an in vitro diagnostic test for the qualitative identification of COVID-19 antigen in nasal swab specimens obtained directly from people with or without symptoms or from people with other epidemiological reasons to suspect COVID-19.

In the comfort of their own home, the user will receive the test results in less than 20 minutes. The MyLab app can be used to view the test reports. Each package will contain test supplies, instructions for use (IFU) literature, and a biohazard bag for disposing of test supplies safely. The treatment is meant to be carried out with a nose swab rather than a deep nasopharyngeal swab to minimise pain.

How to check positive/negative result:
The novel coronavirus antigen has been found, and the result is negative for the antigen if both the quality control line “C” and the detection line appear. (Pay special attention because the bottom line can be barely visible. Positive results are indicated by any line that is pink or purple.)
A negative result is indicated if there is only a quality control line (“C”) and no test line (“T”).
