Augmentin 375 (Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid)

Augmentin 375 Tablet (Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid) belongs to a class of antibiotic medicines called penicillin. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract (bronchitis, pneumonia), genital and urinary tract (gonorrhoea, ), skin and soft tissue, ear (otitis media); nose, sinus, and throat (tonsillitis, sinusitis); heart (endocarditis), kidney, urethra or bladder, blood (septicemia), teeth and gums (abcesses), typhoid and paratyphoid fever.

Augmentin 375 is used to increase the effect of certain antibiotics (amoxicillin) to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract (bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract, ear, nose, sinus and throat, skin and soft tissues, bone and joints, and to prevent infections after surgery.

Generic Augmentin ? General information

Augmentin 375 is an unusual antibiotic of the broad-spectrum action. Most known antibacterial drugs contain only one active component. Often, using such drugs, bacteria develop a resistance and the efficiency of the treatment falls. In order to avoid this, it is enough to buy Augmentin 375 and the treatment of the severe infectious diseases will be more effective.

Augmentin contains two active components namely amoxicillin and clavulanic acid.

Augmentin 375 is very popular antibacterial drug which may destroy the most different morbific microorganisms. It provides a fast pharmacological action with bactericidal effect. The therapeutic effect appears because this component destroys the cell wall of bacteria and makes them vulnerable.

Bacteria die within a short period of time and the infection symptoms completely pass.

But the action of Amoxicillin is often bothered by components (b-lactamase) produced by these microbes. Due to this, many one-component antibiotics do not bring the needed results in the treatment of the infections. Clavulanic acid, as a component of Augmentin drug, provides a resistance of Amoxicillin to the influence of b-lactamase increasing its area of the action.

The combination of these two components provides the high efficiency.

How Augmentin 375 works?

Augmentin 375 kills bacteria by interfering with the production of the bacterial cell wall (outer coating of bacteria). As a result, the bacterial cell wall is weakened and ruptured, thereby killing the bacteria.

Clavulanic acid belongs to a group of medicines called beta-lactamase inhibitors. It blocks the activity of a chemical (beta-lactamase), which is secreted by bacteria to protect themselves from antibiotic drugs like amoxicillin, thereby allowing the antibiotics to act against the bacteria. It does not kill bacteria and is never used alone to treat infections.

How to take Generic Augmentin?
