Uses

Azelaic acid (Aziderm) cream is used to treat the bumps, an area of abnormal tissue change (lesions), and swelling caused by rosacea (a skin disease that causes redness, flushing, and pimples on the face). Aziderm Cream 20% is used to treat pimples (acne).

How it works

Azelaic acid belongs to a class of drugs called dicarboxylic acids. It works to treat pimples by killing the bacteria that cause infection of skin pores and by decreasing production of keratin, a natural substance that can lead to the development of pimples. The way Aziderm works to treat rosacea is not known.
