What is Adapalene?

Adapalene gel, also sold under the brand name Differin and Adapale Gel among several other names, is a topical (applied on the skin) drug that is used to heal severe acne. It is similar to vitamin A and helps the skin cells to rebuild.

Adapalene may also be used to treat other conditions not listed above.

Important Information about Adaferin

Don?t apply Adapalene gel in sensitive areas of your body like eyes, nose creases, or lips. Rinse with lots of water if the cream gets into these areas accidently. Also, don?t apply adapalene on sunburned, wind burned, chapped, irritate, dry or damaged skin. Avoid applying this cream or gel on wounds or eczema affected areas. Apply only after all these conditions have healed.

Avoid using skin products that have alpha hydroxyl or glycolic acid when you are using Adaferin. Also avoid products that can be harsh on skin like harsh soaps, cleansers, shampoos, hair colors or perms, hair removal creams or wax, or skin products that contain alcohol, astringents, spices, or lime. Consult your doctor first and only they use another skin medication product while using adapalene.

You must protect your skin from unnecessary sunlight and UV rays including artificial sun lamps and tanning beds. Using Adaferin may increase the chances of sunburn due to sunlight exposure even for a small period. For optimum protection, cover your skin while going out in sun and use a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15.

Always store adapalene medication in a cool and dry place away from heat and moisture. Make sure that you children and pets don?t get access to it.

Before using Adapalene gel

You must not use adapalene if you are allergic to it. Let your doctor know without fail if you are pregnant, planning for pregnancy or nursing a baby. Let him or her thoroughly examine your case and then prescribe adapalene for ultimate safety for you and your baby.

How should I use Adaferin?

Use adapalene medication strictly as directed by your doctor. Any changes in the prescribed amount of dosage may lead to harmful effects or total ineffectiveness of the medication. Also complete the medication course within the prescribed period and don?t overshoot the time you have to take the medication.

Adaferin gel is applied once daily in the evening usually. Wash and dry you hands completely. Clean the area of application with a mild soapless cleanser before application of the medicine. Dry the skin gently with a clean towel. Assure high level of hygiene at all times.

Put adapalene medication with a thin film of the gel spread to the entire area of acne. Don?t use other skin products in combination with adapalene unless it has been prescribed by your doctor. It may take several weeks or even months of using Adaferin before which you may be able to see some results. Your acne condition may worsen for a short period initially while using this medication. Let your doctor know immediately if you condition deteriorates very badly or if it doesn?t start to subside within 8 to 12 weeks.

What if I miss a dose of Adapalene?

If you miss a dose of adapalene medication, apply it as soon as you remember. However if the time for the next dose is almost close, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule.

What if I Overdose?

Don?t over dose on Adapalene gel or any medication for that matter. If you have taken an overdose of adapalene, you may experience redness on skin with burning and itching. Seek immediate medical attention if these conditions deteriorate for the worse.
