INTRODUCTION:

AMIODAR 100MG contain Amiodarone which belongs to a group of medicine called anti-arrhythmics. It is used to treat uneven heartbeats, Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, other types of fast or uneven heartbeats such as atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation. Arrhythmia is a problem with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat. During an arrhythmia, the heart can beat too fast, too slowly, or with an irregular rhythm. When a heart beats too fast, the condition is called tachycardia. When a heart beats too slowly, the condition is called bradycardia.
nAMIODAR 100MG regulates heartbeat by blocking abnormal electrical signals in the heart. This medicine must be taken with or without food. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. This medicine is strictly not recommended for use in children and adolescents. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine. The most common side effects are vomiting, change in the way things taste, changes in the amount of liver enzymes, burning more easily in the sun, slightly slower heartbeat and nightmares.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE;

Always take AMIODAR 100MG exactly as your doctor has told you. This medicine must be taken with or without food. Try to take this medicine at the same time each day. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

SIDE EFFECTS OF AMIODAR 100MG:
n
SERIOUS
n
• Allergic reaction such as rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swollen eyelids, face, lips, throat, or tongue
n• Blistering or peeling of the skin around the lip, eye, mouth, nose and genital, flu-like symptoms, and fever (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
n• Severe blistering rash in which layers of the skin may peel off to leave large areas of raw exposed skin over the body. You may also feel generally unwell, have a fever, chills, and aching muscles (Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis)
n• Inflammation of the skin characterised by fluid filled blisters (bullous dermatitis)
n• Increase in a type of white blood cells (eosinophilia) and enlarged lymph nodes (DRESS)

COMMON

• Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), nausea, loss of appetite, stomach pain (signs of liver problems or damage)
n• Difficulty breathing or tightness in the chest, cough, wheezing, weight loss, fever
n• Blurred eyesight or seeing a coloured halo in dazzling light
n• Feeling extremely restless or agitated, increased sweating and being unable to stand the heat(hyper-thyroidism)
n• Feeling extremely tired, weak, or run-down, weight gain, being unable to stand the cold, constipation, and aching muscles(hypo-thyroidism)
n• Trembling when you move your arms or legs
n• Blue or grey marks on parts of your skin exposed to sunlight, especially the face
n• Vomiting
n• Change in the way things taste
n• Changes in the amount of liver enzymes
n• Burning more easily in the sun

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS:

Nausea and vomiting:
nTry taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.

nStomach pain:

nKeep try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly and smaller and frequent meals. Applying a heat pad or covered hot water bottle on your stomach may also help. If still pain persists, speak to your doctor.

nConstipation:

nTake fibre rich foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals, and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.

ALLERGY

LUNGS

nLithium, doxepin, maprotiline or amitriptyline (used to treat other mental illnesses)
nQuinine, mefloquine, chloroquine or halofantrine (used to treat malaria)
nAntihistamines such as terfenadine, astemizole or mizolastine (used to treat hay fever, rashes, or other allergies)
nSofosbuvir, daclatasvir, simeprevir or ledispasvir (used to treat hepatitis C)
nFlecainide, digitalis, beta-blockers such as propranolol (used to treat heart problems)
nWater tablets (diuretics)
