ABITOL 4MG contains Cyproheptadine which belongs to antiserotonergic agent

WHAT ABITOL 4MG IS USED FOR?

It is used to treat,
nPerennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis
nVasomotor rhinitis
nAllergic conjunctivitis due to inhalant allergens and foods
nAngioedema
nAmelioration of allergic reactions to blood or plasma
nCold urticaria
nDermatographism

WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS:

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
nAre allergic (hypersensitive) to Cyproheptadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
nHave a history of bronchial asthma
nHave intraocular pressure
nHave hyperthyroidism
nHave cardiovascular disease
nHave hypertension
n
PREGNANCY & BREAST FEEDING
n
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
n

CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS

ABITOL 4MG is recommended in children. Consult your doctor before giving this medicine to your child
n

INTERACTIONS:

Tell your doctor if you are taking:
nMAO inhibitors
nHypnotics, sedatives, tranquilizers, antianxiety agents
n
DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:
n
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
nABITOL 4MG should be swallowed whole with a drink of water
nDo not cut, crush or chew this medicine
n
The total daily dose for adults should not exceed 0.5 mg/kg/day
n
The therapeutic range is 4 to 20 mg a day, with most patients requiring 12 to 16 mg a dayIf you take more ABITOL 4MG
nIf you take more, contact your doctorIf you forgot to take ABITOL 4MG
n
nIf you forget to take a dose, skip the missed dose. Take the next dose as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
n
nIf you stop taking ABITOL 4MG
n
nDo not stop taking your medicine unless your doctor has told you to
n
SIDE EFFECTS OF ABITOL 4MG:
n
SERIOUS
n• Allergic skin rash and hives
n• Severe allergic reaction which causes difficulty in breathing or dizziness
n
COMMON
n• Increased heart rate
n• Feeling sleepy, dizzy, problems with co-ordination or feeling tired
n• Feeling confused, restless, over excited, nervous, irritable or trembling
n• Feeling faint
n• Headache
n• Inflammation inside the ear, ringing in the ears
n• Blurred or double vision
n• Vertigo
n• Blocked nose
n• Feeling wheezy
n• Tight chest
n• Low blood pressure
n• Nosebleeds
n• Difficulty passing urine
n• Menstrual problems
n
