WHAT IS BUSPIN 10MG?

BUSPIN 10MG contains Buspirone which belong to a group of medicines, known as anxiolytics
nIt works on the central nervous system, altering levels of chemicals in the brain

WHAT BUSPIN 10MG IS USED FOR?

It is used to treat:
nShort term management of anxiety disorders
nRelief of symptoms of anxiety with or without symptoms of depression

Talk to your Doctor if you:
nAre allergic to BUSPIN 10MG or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
nHave epilepsy
nHad impaired liver or kidney function in the past
nHave acute narrow-angle glaucoma
nHave myasthenia gravis, a disorder characterised by muscle weakness, difficulty chewing or swallowing and slurred speech
nHave had any drug dependence

PREGNANCY & BREAST FEEDING
n
Do not take BUSPIN 10MG tablets if you are pregnant or are breast-feeding
nIf you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine

CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS

BUSPIN 10MG is not recommended to Children and Adolescents
n
n
DRIVING & USING MACHINES
n
BUSPIN 10MG may make you feel sleepy, drowsy or dizzy. Do not drive while taking this medicine until you know how it affects you
n
n
INTERACTIONS:
n
Tell your doctor if you are taking:
nBenzodiazepine e.g. nitrazepam or temazepam (used to treat epilepsy)
nSedative or hypnotic medicine (used as a hypnotic to induce sleep)
nMonoamine-oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) e.g.: phenelzine and tranylcypromine, St. John?s Wort, nefazodone and L-tryptophan, fluvoxamine, trazodone, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) e.g. fluoxetine and paroxetine (used to treat depression)
nHaloperidol and lithium (used to treat mental illness)
nCalcium channel blockers such as diltiazem and verapamil (used to treat high blood pressure)
nRifampicin (used to treat tuberculosis)
nTriptan drugs e.g. sumatriptan (used to treat migraine)
nTramadol (used as a painkiller)
nBaclofen (used to treat muscle relaxant)
nLofexidine (used to manage drug withdrawal)
nNabilone (used to treat nausea and vomiting)
nAntihistamines (used to treat allergic reactions)
nErythromycin, itraconazole and linezolid (used to treat infections)
nDiltiazem (used to treat angina)
nDigoxin (used to treat heart failure)
nPhenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine (used to treat epilepsy)
nCimetidine (used to treat stomach ulcers)
nDiazepam (used to treat anxiety)
nWarfarin (used to treat blood clots)

DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:
n
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
nSwallow the tablets with water, at the same time each day
nDo not break, crush or chew the tablets
nIt should be taken consistently with or without food
nHowever, the medicine is taken on the day one should be continued thereafter
n
If you take more BUSPIN 10MG
nIf you (or someone else) swallow a lot of the tablets at the same time, contact your nearest hospital or tell your doctor immediatelySymptoms of an overdose include are feeling or being sick, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, ringing or buzzing in the ears, restlessness, restriction of the pupils, stomach problems, slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, fits and extrapyramidal symptoms (difficulty in speaking or swallowing, loss of balance control, mask-like face, shuffling walk, stiffness of arms and legs, trembling or shaking of hands or fingers)
n
nIf you forget to take BUSPIN 10MG
n
nDo not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember it and then take the next dose at the right time
n
nIf you stop taking BUSPIN 10MG
n
nTalk to your doctor before you stop taking the tablets and follow their advice
n
SIDE EFFECTS OF BUSPIN 10MG:
n
SERIOUS
n
• Serotonin syndrome : Symptoms are feeling confused, feeling restless, sweating, shaking, shivering, hallucinations (strange visions or sounds), sudden jerks of the muscles or a fast heartbeat
n• Allergic reactions such as itching, difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue
n
n
COMMON
n
• Dizziness, headache, sleepiness
n• Nervousness, difficulty in sleeping, disturbance in attention, depression, confused state
n• Anger, pins and needles, tingling, blurred vision, abnormal coordination, tremor, ringing or buzzing in the ears
n• Racing heart (abnormally fast heart rhythm), chest pain
n• Blocked nose, sore throat, feeling and being sick
n• Stomach pain, dry mouth, diarrhoea, constipation, cold sweats, rash, pain in the muscles, tendons, ligaments and bone
n• Mental and physical tiredness
n
n
RARE
n
• Bruising, itchy skin rash caused by allergic reaction – pale or red irregular raised patches with severe itching (hives)
n
n
VERY RARE
n
• Psychosis, hallucinations
n• Fits, tunnel vision, extrapyramidal disorder (tremor, slurred speech, restlessness (akathisia)
n• Dystonia (affecting posture ? muscle spasm or the neck, shoulders or body)
n• Muscle rigidity, difficulty controlling movement/jerky movements
n• Fainting, total or partial memory loss, lack of muscle control
n• Restless leg syndrome
n• Over production of breast milk
n
n
