WHAT ISORDIL 5MG IS USED FOR?

ISORDIL 5MG is used to

nRelieve the pain and frequency of angina attacks
nControl certain types of heart failure

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

nAre allergic to Isosorbide dinitrate or to any other ingredients of this medicine
nHave low blood pressure
nSuffer from hemorrhage (problems with bleeding)
nAre dehydrated due to illness such as diarrhea or vomiting
nHave heart problems
nHave severe anemia
nHave glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)
nSuffer from deficiency of an enzyme called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD)
nHave severe kidney or liver problems
nHave an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism)
nSuffer from hypothermia

CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken following medicines,

nNoradrenaline (norepinephrine) to treat high blood pressure or heart attack
nAcetylcholine used in some operations
nMedicines to treat high blood pressure such as calcium channel blockers (e.g. nifedipine)
nTricyclic antidepressants (e.g. amitriptyline)
nPhenothiazines (e.g. chlorpromazine) to treat mental illness
nHistamine to treat allergies
nSildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil, used to treat male erection dysfunction

INTERACTIONS:

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken following medicines,

DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:

Always take ISORDIL 5MG exactly as your doctor has told you
nSwallow the tablets whole with a glass of water
nAdults

nAngina: 30-120mg daily in divided doses
nHeart failure: 40-160mg daily in divided doses
nThe maximum daily dose is 240mg in divided doses

nIf you take more ISORDIL 5MG
n
nIf you take more ISORDIL 5MG, contact your nearest hospital casualty department or tell your doctor immediately
n
nIf you forget to take ISORDIL 5MG
n
nDo not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember it and then take the next dose at the right time
n
nIf you stop taking ISORDIL 5MG
n
nDo not stop using ISORDIL 5MG without consulting your doctor
