ESLOMET is the combination of Amlodipine Besylate (calcium channel blockers) and Metoprolol Tartarate (Beta blockers)

WHAT ESLOMET IS USED FOR?

It is used in the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris
nIt prevents death due to heart attacks
n

WARNING & PRECAUTION:

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine If you
nAre allergic to ESLOMET
nSuffer with heart conduction or rhythm problems, heart failure, blocked blood vessels
nSuffer from a tight, painful feeling in the chest in periods of rest (Prinzmetal’s angina)
nAre suffering from narrowing of the aortic heart valve (aortic stenosis)
nSuffer with untreated phaeochromocytoma (high blood pressure due to a tumor near the kidney)
nSuffer from increased acidity of the blood (metabolic acidosis)
nHave low blood pressure
nHave or have had breathing difficulties or asthma including COPD
nSuffer with diabetes associated with frequent episodes of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia)
nHave liver or kidney disease or failure
nHave difficulties in passing urine
nHave low levels of potassium (hypokalaemia) or sodium (hyponatraemia) in your blood
nHave high levels of calcium (hypercalcaemia)
nSuffer with gout due to high levels of uric acid
nHave or have suffered from psoriasis (severe skin rashes)
nHave myasthenia gravis
nAre going to have an operation or an anaesthetic, please tell your doctor that you are taking ESLOMET tablets, as your heart beat might slow down too much

PREGNANCY & BREAST FEEDING

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine

CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS

Do not give this medicine to children

DRIVING & USING MACHINES
n
ESLOMET may make you feel tired and dizzy. Make sure you are not affected before you drive or operate machinery, particularly after changing to another medicine or if taken with alcohol
n

INTERACTIONS:
n
Do not take ESLOMET if you are already taking:
nOther antihypertensives as injection especially verapamil, diltiazem or disopyramide.
nMonoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression
nCimetidine (to treat stomach ulcers)
nHydralazine, Clonidine or Prazosin (to treat high blood pressure)
nAmiodarone and Propafenone (for irregular heart rhythm)
nTricyclic or SSRI antidepressants (to treat depression)
nBarbiturates (to treat epilepsy)
nPhenothiazines (for mental illness)
nAnaesthetics such as cyclopropane or trichloroethylene
nAldesleukin (to treat some cancers, particularly cancer of the kidney)
nAlprostadil (to treat erectile dysfunction)
nAnxiolytics or hypnotics (e.g. temazepam, nitrazepam, diazepam)
nIndometacin or celecoxib (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs))
nRifampicin (antibiotic) or Terbinafine or Ketoconazole and Itraconazole (antifungal)
nCocaine
nCorticosteroids (e.g. hydrocortisone, prednisolone)
nOther beta-blockers e.g. eye drops.
nAdrenaline (epinephrine) or Noradrenaline (norepinephrine), used in anaphylactic shock or other sympathomimetics
nMedicines used to treat diabetes
nLidocaine (a local anaesthetic)
nMoxisylyte (used in Raynaud?s syndrome)
nMefloquine (to treat malaria)
nTropisetron (to prevent nausea and vomiting)
nXanthines such as Aminophylline or Theophylline (to treat asthma)
nMedicines to treat migranes such as Ergotamine
nCardiac glycosides e.g. Digoxin (to treat heart conditions)
nHydroxychloroquine (to treat rheumatoid arthritis)
nDiphenydramine (sedative antihistamine).
nHIV-protease-inhibitors (e.g. ritonavir)
nClarithromycin, erythromycin and telithromycin, rifabutin (antibiotics)
nNefazodone (medicine to treat depression)
nJohn?s wort (Hypericum perforatum; herbal medicine for depression)
nDantrolene (infusion for severe body temperature abnormalities)
nTacrolimus (medicine used to alter the way your immune system works)
nSimvastatin (cholesterol lowering medicine)
nCyclosporine (an immunosuppressant)

DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:
n
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
nYou should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure
nSwallow the medicine with a glass of water
nHigh blood pressure
nInitially 100mg metoprolol tartrate daily. The dose may be increased to 200mg daily in single or divided doses
nAngina
n
n50-100mg metoprolol tartrate two or three times daily
nIrregular heartbeats (arrhythmia)
n
n50mg metoprolol tartrate two or three times daily. The dose may be increased to 300mg daily in divided doses
nHeart attacks
n
n50mg metoprolol tartrate every six hours. The usual maintenance dose is 200mg daily in divided doses. The medicine should be taken for at least 3 months
n
nIf you take more ESLOMET
n
nIf you or someone else has taken too much ESLOMET, contact your nearest hospital casualty department
n
nIf you forget to take ESLOMET
n
nIf you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is nearly time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
n
nIf you stop taking ESLOMET
n
nDo not suddenly stop taking this medicine as this may cause worsening of heart failure and increase the risk of heart attack. Only change the dose or stop the treatment in consultation with your doctor
n
STORAGE:

Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
nProtect from light
nDo not take this medicine after the expiry date
nKeep out of the reach of children
