nIt work by decreasing the amount of certain natural substances in the brain (monoamines such as dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine), which are involved with nerve and muscle function

WHAT ATREST 25MG IS USED FOR?

ATREST 25MG is used in the treatment of the involuntary movements (chorea) of Huntingtons disease

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:

TALK TO DOCTOR

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
nHave liver problems
nHave emotional or mental problems (for example, depression, nervousness, anxiety, anger, agitation, psychosis, suicidal thoughts)
nHave liver or heart disease
nHave any allergies
nHave breast cancer or a history of breast cancer
nSleep a lot more or a lot less than usual
nMore or less hungry than usual or notice a big change in your body weight

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine

nTell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including

nMonoamine oxidase inhibitor medicine (selegiline, rasagiline)
nReserpine

DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:

ATREST 25MG is a tablet that you take by mouth
nTake the medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor
nYou may take ATREST 25MG with or without food
nYour doctor will increase your dose of ATREST 25MG each week for several weeks

If you take more ATREST 25MG

nIf you take too many ATREST 25MG, call your doctor or go to the nearest hospital right away
n
nIf you forget to take ATREST 25MG
n
nBefore starting ATREST 25MG, you should talk to your doctor about what to do if you miss a dose. If you miss a dose and it is time for your next dose, do not double the dose
n
nIf you stop taking ATREST 25MG
n
nIf you stop taking ATREST 25MG or miss a dose, your involuntary movements may return or worsen in 12 to 18 hours after the last dose
n
nTell your doctor if you stop taking ATREST 25MG for more than 5. Do not take another dose until you talk to your doctor

SIDE EFFECTS OF ATREST 25MG:

SERIOUS

n

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
n• Depression
n• Suicidal thoughts or actions
n• Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS)
n• High fever
n• Stiff muscles
n• Problems thinking
n• Very fast or uneven heartbeat
n• Increased sweating
n• Symptoms of Parkinsonism include: slight shaking, body stiffness, trouble moving or keeping your balance
n• Dizziness due to blood pressure changes when you change position (orthostatic hypotension)

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

n• Sleepiness (sedation)
n• Trouble sleeping
n• Depression
n• Tiredness (fatigue)
n• Anxiety
n• Restlessness
n• Agitation
n• Nausea
